FBI Releases Photos of Person of Interest in Charlie Kirk Assassination

The FBI has made public two photos of a person of interest connected to conservative leader Charlie Kirk's Wednesday assassination. The individual was spotted on the Utah Valley University campus wearing sunglasses and dark clothing, and the bureau is requesting the public's assistance in identifying him.
On X Thursday, the FBI shared the images and asked anyone with information about the person to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or provide a digital report. The man, clad in wraparound sunglasses, a cap, and black apparel, appears to be wearing a blouse featuring an American flag pattern.
A sniper shot and killed Kirk, 31, while he was giving a speech at Utah Valley University to kick off his American Comeback tour. About 200 yards away from the action, the shooter fired from a window at the Losee Center. Near the Orem campus, police found a towel-wrapped Mauser.30-06 bolt-action rifle. The ATF has not yet verified reports of cartridges engraved with ideological messages.
Federal authorities have released the first pictures of a man they are trying to identify in connection with the murder of Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA. The images, which went viral on X on Thursday, include a tall, thin man wearing all black, complete with a cap and wraparound sunglasses, and a long-sleeved garment that looks to be an American flag. The bureau encouraged anyone with information to call the agency or leave a tip online.
Kirk, a well-known conservative activist, was shot once by a sniper Wednesday afternoon while he was speaking at the start of his American Comeback tour at Utah Valley University's Losee Center. At 1:20 p.m., Kirk was addressing a group of students when the attack took place.
Since then, authorities have discovered a Mauser bolt-action rifle they suspect played a role in the assault. Authorities found the gun concealed in a wooded location near the school, wrapped in a towel. Although a Justice Department source told The New York Post that the information has not been formally verified, reports quoting law enforcement authorities first stated that the rifle's ammunition included engravings referring to "transgender and anti-fascist ideology."
Several people have already been detained in connection with the inquiry. Following their arrest on Wednesday, two guys were found not to have been involved. Federal officials questioned one person, released him, and charged another with obstruction of justice.
The FBI and ATF are among the law enforcement organizations that are still canvassing the area, looking over security material, and asking the public for help in identifying the man in the publicly available photos.
