President Trump Addresses Norfolk Naval Station for Its 250th Anniversary

President Trump assured military troops that he would make sure they receive "every last penny" despite the prolonged government shutdown caused by Democrats during his remarks at Naval Station Norfolk on Sunday in honor of the U.S. Navy's 250th anniversary.

The U.S. Navy always stands for America—and as Commander-in-Chief, I will always stand for you,” Trump said to the audience during his speech. "We will get our service members every last penny," he continued, "despite the current shutdown that Democrats have imposed." Assuring sailors and troops that "every sailor and service member" will be taken care of, Trump reiterated his support for pay increases across all branches of the military.

Due to their critical position, service members continue to work during shutdowns, but if the standoff lasts longer than two weeks, future paychecks may be delayed, according to the National Military Family Association. To ensure ongoing military pay, lawmakers have introduced the Pay Our Troops Act (H.R. 5401).

President Trump reiterated his dedication to service personnel during the ceremony, which commemorated the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Navy, adding, "As Commander-in-Chief, I will always stand for you; I promise you that." You voted for me in unprecedented numbers because you are aware of that.

As the shutdown continued to freeze nonessential federal programs, Trump made these remarks. According to the National Military Family Association, if Congress does not take immediate action, future paychecks may be affected even while the military is still on duty. October 1 was the last day of regular pay for service personnel, which covered the time leading up to the closure.

Trump denounced his political rivals for promoting laws that give preference to illegal aliens over U.S. residents, calling the situation "a disgrace caused by Democrats in Congress." Trump declared, "They want to give all of our money to illegal aliens that flood the country." The issue lies in their overwhelming presence, despite my heart being larger than theirs.

Trump's remarks reflect widespread Republican dissatisfaction with Democratic spending objectives, especially with relation to illegal alien health care. Although Democratic leaders have officially denied it, Breitbart News previously revealed that several Democrats, including Reps. Ro Khanna and Maxine Waters, recognized that the shutdown argument revolves around plans to extend benefits like free health care to illegals.

But for President Trump, the matter is still straightforward: America's military personnel must come first. He pledged, "We will get our service members every last penny," indicating that his administration will not let Washington's political stalemate hurt those who protect the country.
