BOOM: FBI Drops Search Warrant on Fulton County Election Hub in Connection With Trump's 2020 Election Loss

According to the county, the FBI carried out a search warrant at an elections center in Fulton County on Wednesday to obtain records pertaining to the 2020 election. Union City, a short distance south of Atlanta, is home to the Fulton County Election Hub and Operation Center.

The FBI's Atlanta Field Office confirmed the activity and said, "an investigation into this matter is ongoing, so there are no details that we can provide at the moment." The FBI told NBC News that it was "conducting court-authorized law enforcement activity" at the Fulton County Election Hub and Operation Center.

Fulton County declined to provide further details in their statement on Wednesday afternoon, stating that "this operation is still actively underway."

Fulton County Democrat and state senator Josh McLaurin described the search as "extremely alarming."

President Donald Trump reiterated his unfounded accusation that the 2020 election was "rigged" during his remarks at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, last week. He further claimed that "people will soon be prosecuted for what they did."

After losing the Georgia election in 2020, Trump became obsessed with Fulton County. Trump called Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in the run-up to the Jan. 6 attack, urging him to "find 11,780 votes," or about Joe Biden's margin of victory in Ga.

"Do you believe that ballots in Fulton County might have been shredded?" At the moment, Trump told Raffensberger. Trump responded, "It's a rumor." On Wednesday, Raffensperger's office declined to comment.

The Fulton County Election Hub opened its doors in 2023. According to a statement from the county administration at the time, the Elections Department takes up "the largest area, with more than 261,000 square feet dedicated to staff, operations, and equipment."

Trump's attention to Fulton County also confirms the rationale behind Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis' state criminal prosecution against him. She was disqualified from prosecuting the case due to suspicions of conflict of interest, and the case was dismissed. Trump, who entered a not guilty plea, is now requesting more than $6.2 million in charges and legal bills related to that inquiry.

Agents were given permission by a court order signed by Magistrate Judge Catherine M. Salinas to confiscate all of the actual ballots, ballot photos, and voter lists from the 2020 election in Fulton County. The Recorder received a copy of the order from a congressman from Georgia.

Cae'Lenthya Moore, the executive assistant to Fulton County Clerk Ché Alexander, stated, "We are aware of the ongoing law enforcement activity involving the FBI at the Fulton County warehouse." "At this time, the only activities we are aware of are related to the warehouse location."

Representatives of the FBI's field office in Atlanta did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The U.S. Department of Justice sued Fulton County in December for failing to provide voter records from the 2020 election. According to the lawsuit, Alexander previously rejected requests for the data from Justice Department officials, claiming that the records were sealed and could not be made public without a court order. Later on, she moved to have the case dismissed.
