Vice President JD Vance Identifies Shooter Who Opened Fire on ICE as “Violent Left-Wing Extremist”

Vice President JD Vance denounced the shooter who opened fire on an ICE facility in Dallas on Wednesday as "a violent left-wing extremist." Vance criticized Democrats and the media for their language that, in his words, incites political violence against police officers in remarks made just hours after the incident.

Before killing himself, the shooter murdered one inmate and wounded two others, according to FBI confirmation. Shells found at the scene were labeled "ANTI-ICE," according to director Kash Patel. There were no injuries to law enforcement personnel.

Speaking close to Charlotte, North Carolina, Vance said the attack was obviously political in nature and described it as "disgusting" that law enforcement officers policing the border are being singled out rather than assisted. He cautioned that by disparaging ICE, Democratic leaders and left-leaning media are inciting violence.

During his speech in North Carolina on Wednesday, Vice President JD Vance firmly connected the Dallas ICE shooting to what he called a poisonous atmosphere fostered by Democrats and their media accomplices. "A violent left-wing extremist who wrote 'ANTI-ICE' messaging on their bullets opened fire on an ICE facility in Dallas, Texas," Vance stated. According to him, authorities think the gunman had political motivations and targeted both inmates and law police.

Vance criticized what he called left-wing "rhetorical assaults," claiming they give violent, disturbed people more confidence to carry out violent crimes. He declared, "The rhetorical attack on law enforcement must end now." "When Democrats, such as Gavin Newsom, claim that these individuals are a part of an authoritarian government, and when the left-wing media fabricates information about their actions, they are actually inciting insane individuals to carry out acts of violence."

After NBC News posted and later removed a piece implying that ICE officers used a little girl to coerce her father into turning himself in, the vice president also attacked the network. Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin of DHS chastised the publication for publishing "these smears" without first informing the department. Vance used the incident to demonstrate how spreading untrue information about ICE might have fatal results. "What do you think will happen," he said, "when you go around lying about our law enforcement and telling them that they're mistreating five-year-old girls?"

He made a clear connection between the rise in violence and politicians that support altercations with federal authorities. “What do you think will happen when Democratic politicians engage in doxing and want us to reveal the identities of ICE enforcement officers? There will be political violence, and in our nation, political violence has gotten out of hand," he stated.

Vance used some of his most scathing criticism of the Democratic Party to end his speech. If you want to stop political violence, stop telling your supporters that everybody who disagrees with you is a Nazi. If you want to stop political violence, look in the mirror," he urged. He continued by saying that while disagreements over immigration policy are legitimate, language that singles out federal officials for criticism is unacceptable.
