Justice Department to Prepare Investigations into George Soros’s Open Society Foundations
By The Blog Source
In response to President Trump's demands for accountability, the Justice Department, led by Attorney General Pam Bondi, has directed U.S. attorneys to draft probes into George Soros's Open Society Foundations.
Potential charges against Soros's network included wire fraud, arson, racketeering, and material support for terrorism, according to a DOJ memo distributed to many U.S. attorney's offices. The directive comes as Trump reaffirmed his demands that Soros, former FBI Director James Comey, and New York AG Letitia James be prosecuted for their savage attacks on the president. The endeavor was referred to as a "politically motivated attack" by Soros's charity, while DOJ stressed its need to target groups associated with terrorism and violence.
George Soros, a wealthy megadonor who finances progressive projects both domestically and internationally, frequently with disastrous effects on democracy, free markets, and public safety, has been viewed as untouchable by the left for decades. That time seems to be coming to an end. A broad mandate was released this week by Attorney General Pam Bondi's Justice Department, directing U.S. attorneys in key cities to investigate criminal charges against Soros's Open Society Foundations.
The New York Times saw the dossier, which listed possible accusations ranging from aiding terrorism to racketeering. The conservative Capital Research Center provided some of the evidence, describing how funds connected to Soros have supported organizations suspected of extremism, such as al-Haq, a Palestinian organization that Israel has designated as a terrorist front. The facts show a concerning trend of sponsoring organizations that are antagonistic to American and allied interests, even as Soros's supporters brush these accusations off as smear tactics.
President Trump has consistently criticized George Soros, portraying him as a radical billionaire who funds instability. Following the tragic death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in Utah, Trump publicly called for DOJ action and declared that Soros should go to jail. His administration's stance is unambiguous: under the guise of "civil society," Americans shouldn't have to put up with elites financing chaos and bloodshed.
It is a component of a larger reckoning. Trump has also demanded responsibility from other longstanding enemies, such as Letitia James and James Comey, who have harassed him financially and politically using their positions. Democrats protected their own power brokers from criticism for years while using institutions as weapons against conservatives. The power dynamic is changing now that Trump is in office, and Soros, who has long been considered the boogeyman of the American left and right, may be nearing the end of his days of unchecked influence.
Soros's network is not backing down in silence. The family's $10 million investment in Democrat attempts to redraw California congressional districts only last week is evidence that they are still committed to using any means necessary to change American politics. However, for the first time in decades, the Justice Department is signaling that such activities will no longer go unchecked.
