Nathalie Rose Jones Arrested in D.C. For Making Death Threats Against President Trump on Facebook

Federal authorities announced Monday that an assassination plan against President Donald Trump was foiled when a woman traveling from New York to Washington, D.C., was apprehended. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro confirmed the arrest, saying the suspect "was working to have him eliminated" and will be prosecuted "to the fullest extent of the law."
Nathalie Rose Jones, 50, of Lafayette, Indiana, was arrested in the District of Columbia on Saturday, August 16, and charged with making a number of social media threats, including a threat to kill President Trump, according to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro. Jones was charged in a complaint filed in U.S. District Court with threatening to kill, kidnap, or injure the President of the United States, as well as transmitting threats to kidnap or injure another person in interstate commerce.
The news comes just days after President Trump and Pirro launched a major crime-fighting campaign in the nation's capital. Washington, D.C., has seen an increase in lawlessness under the Democrat administration, with violent crime, carjackings, and assaults becoming commonplace.
The case is another example of the effects of unbridled anti-Trump discourse. For nearly a decade, Democrats and mainstream media personalities have portrayed Trump as an existential threat, frequently declaring that he must be "removed" or "stopped." Pirro and others say that the hostile climate has led some people to interpret those phrases literally.
Pirro's pledge to vigorously pursue the case aligns with Trump's broader focus on law and order since his return to the White House. The president has repeatedly exposed the fact that Democrats have allowed America's communities to devolve into turmoil while vilifying police officers and condoning criminals. His administration's latest crackdown tries to reverse that slide, and the arrest of a would-be assassin underscores its urgency.
For Trump, the attempt is simply another escalation in the continuous barrage of attacks he has faced, including media slander, political prosecutors, foreign foes, and various murder plots. However, as Pirro stated, he is undeterred, proceeding with his agenda to restore order, defend law enforcement, and fight for the country he leads.
"Protecting the President of the United States is our top priority, and we take every potential threat very seriously," stated Special Agent in Charge Matt McCool of the US Secret Service, Washington Field Office. "Special Agents from New York and Washington, DC, working closely with prosecutors from the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia, acted quickly and forcefully to neutralize this claimed threat before it escalated. We are extremely appreciative of the devoted individuals who worked relentlessly to move this investigation forward and protect our nation's leadership."
According to court records, between August 2 and August 9, members of the United States Secret Service noticed the Instagram user account "nath.jones" posting threatening comments against the President of the United States. The Instagram user demanded President Trump's ouster, dubbed him a terrorist, referred to his administration as a dictatorship, and said that President Trump had caused significant and unnecessary loss of life due to the coronavirus.
Between August 6 and August 15, "Nath.Jones" allegedly continued to make threats against President Trump on Facebook. In an August 6 post addressed to the FBI, Nath.Jones said, "I am willing to sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea with Liz Cheney and all The Affirmation present."
The US Secret Service is investigating this case. Assistant US Attorney Josh Satter is prosecuting the case.
