Vice President Kamala Harris faced criticism during a Michigan town hall on Monday when it was disclosed that the crowd would only be permitted to ask pre-approved questions. After a woman in the crowd questioned if listeners would be allowed to offer their own questions, the event, which was moderated by journalist and former California First Lady Maria Shriver, immediately drew criticism. "You are not; regrettably, we have certain predetermined questions," Shriver retorted, adding that she planned to personally address some of the audience's worries.
Many quickly noted that Harris seemed to be protected from spontaneous moments by the structure. "Everything is planned" with Harris, said Chad Gilmartin, a former Trump White House aide.
