Is It Too Late for Woke, Trump-Deranged Hollywood to Awaken?

Jennifer Lawrence, an actress who has been attacking conservatives and running against Donald Trump for years, now says she may have made matters worse. On the New York Times podcast The Interview, the 35-year-old Oscar winner talked about how her constant political commentary has hurt both the country and her career.
Lawrence remarked, "The first Trump administration was so crazy that I felt like I was running around like a chicken with its head cut off." But she went on, "As we've seen in every election, celebrities don't change who people vote for at all." So what am I doing? I'm only giving my opinion on something that will make a bad situation worse in the country. "We are so divided."
Lawrence, who used to call Trump and his supporters dangerous fanatics, said she's "recalibrating" how she thinks about politics because she knows that Hollywood activism has turned off half the population. She said, "I think I'm in a complicated recalibration because I'm also an artist." "I don't want to stop people from seeing movies and art that could change the world or change the way people think because they don't like my political views. I want to keep my art safe so you can still get immersed in what I'm doing.”
The actress said that many past vocal performers had “incredible careers and made incredible contributions" only to have "half the internet" turn on them. "I feel so bad for those people, and it feels so wrong," she remarked.
Lawrence said she would let her work speak for her from now on: “I try to show my politics through my work. I think I can help by making movies that show what the political landscape is like.”

Lawrence added that she "regrets everything I've ever done or said" when she thought about her younger, more aggressive years. She also said that Trump's second term seems different since "he said what he was going to do... and that's what we chose." The actress claimed she's more careful about what she says in public now: "I don't want to give an interview that's just a bunch of sound bites and a word salad." I'm attempting to find that balance.
When asked if she feels "regret" for how she previously tackled political matters, the No Hard Feelings star replied, "Probably? I regret everything I've done or said. I'm going to remove the zip drives from all of these cameras before I go. The second term feels different. Because he stated what he intended to do. We knew what he was doing for four years. He was quite clear. And that is what we selected."
