In June, there were slightly over 6,000 unlawful border crossings, according to an announcement by Border Czar Tom Homan on Tuesday. This is less than the number of illegal border crossings that officials dealt with daily throughout a large portion of the Biden administration. The Border Patrol logged 6,070 interactions in June, which Homan said was "less than a single day under Biden" and "less than half of a single day on many days" in a post on X.
Compared to June 2024, when the Border Patrol reported 87,606 interactions, that figure reflects a 93.1% decrease. The drop is much more pronounced than it was in June 2022 and June 2023, when the percentages were 94% and 97%, respectively. Homan stated unequivocally that "ZERO" of the migrants detained in June were allowed to enter the United States. He credited President Trump's enhanced interior enforcement and crackdown on illegal immigration for the results.
