SOURCES SAY OBAMA UNMASKED CITIZENS DURING THE 2016 ELECTIONS

Officials of the government has requested that the identities of over 1,900 Americans who were ‘unmasked’ in a National Security Agency surveillance programs in 2016 be unveiled.  This is according to a freshly-released intelligence report.

A report released on Tuesday showed that the NSA distributed a total of 3,914 intelligence reports that includes the identities of American citizens and legal permanent residents.  This was during the Barack Obama era.

This report is released annually and it comes just a couple of weeks after President Donald J. Trump accused his predecessor, Barack Obama’s national security adviser of wrongdoing by asking government analysts to reveal the names of President Donald J. Trump’s officials caught up in surveillance.

For the sake of privacy, the majority of names in such intelligence reports are usually kept under wraps.  However, last year, government officials under the Barack Obama administration asked that the identities of 1,934 persons – not initially revealed in the report by the NSA – be revealed for the purpose of understanding the intelligence being conveyed.  Also, in 2015, still under the Barack Obama led American government, government officials demanded the unveiling of 2,232 identities.

Susan Rice, the former National Security Adviser to the former president disclosed that no Obama official employed the use of secret intelligence reports to spy on Donald Trump’s officials prior to the last presidential election.

American lawmakers have on several occasions demanded an inquiry into the number of Americans’ emails and calls that are being spied for the purpose of gathering information on foreign intelligence targets.

In a recent statement, Ron Wyden, a senior United States Senator for Oregon said, “This report provides a small window into the government’s surveillance activities, but it leaves vital questions unanswered.  At the top of the list is how many Americans’ communications are being swept up.”
