Why Are GOP Senators Opposing President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill?”

Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky stated on Sunday that he is one of "at least four" Republicans who are now against President Trump's tax package, but he stressed he wants to support it provided significant adjustments are made. Although there are currently "four of us" who oppose it, Paul told CBS News, "I want to vote for it." I support tax cuts.
According to Politico, several Republican senators have expressed disapproval of the bill's provisions, including Rick Scott, Mike Lee, Ron Johnson, Josh Hawley, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Mitch McConnell.
On Truth Social, President Trump openly attacked Paul, threatening default and claiming that a "no" vote would benefit Democrats and result in a 68% tax rise. Trump also mentioned that the package might yet be changed to win Senate backing.
At least four Senate Republicans are currently against President Trump's comprehensive tax plan, which is now being considered in the upper house, according to Rand Paul's statement on Sunday. Paul stated that he wants to support the bill—if improvements are made—despite his concerns about its anticipated effect on the national debt. Look, I'd like to support it with my vote. During an appearance on Face the Nation, Paul declared, "I support the tax cuts." "But I don't want to raise the debt ceiling by $5 trillion at the same time."
Politico stated that Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, and Mitch McConnell of Kentucky are among the senators who are opposing the plan, though Paul did not name them. Sens. Rick Scott of Florida, Mike Lee of Utah, Josh Hawley of Missouri, and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin have also expressed their concerns about the measure, though it is yet unknown who will vote "no."
Paul received a stern warning from President Trump on Saturday on Truth Social, who framed any Republican resistance as a strength for the Democratic Party. Trump wrote, "Senator Rand Paul is voting for a 68% tax increase and, perhaps more importantly, a first-ever default on the U.S. debt if he opposes our Great, Big, Beautiful Bill along with the Radical Left Democrats."
“The GREAT people of Kentucky will never forgive Rand for playing right into the hands of the Democrats!” The president went on to say that fiscal issues would be resolved by "growth" and "cost cutting later on."
Additionally, the president has stated that he is amenable to modifications if they aid in the passage of the measure. Last Thursday, Trump declared, "I want the Senate and the senators to make the changes they want." "It will return to the House, and we will attempt to obtain them."
