As of September 13, 2021, according to ICE’s Detainee Statistics by Facility there have been 27,346 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 9 deaths, and 600 cases currently under isolation. According to the New York Post, 30% of the migrants in border facilities refused the COVID shot, and it is reported that the number of detainees who tested positive for COVID-19 in the Rio Grande Valley Sector alone has increased by 900%!

“Between October 2020 and January 2021, ICE was releasing between 2,500 and 3,600 immigrants a month. In February, that increased to 4,782 and increased again in March to 11,888 – and then in April to 12,726”, according to one news source.
