DHS Launches Operation Midway Blitz Targeting Chicago and Illinois Illegal Aliens in Honor of Katie Abraham

After a weekend of criticism from Illinois Democrats over the president's threats of federal action, the Trump administration on Monday began "Operation Midway Blitz," an ICE-led campaign targeting illegal aliens in Chicago.

The operation was revealed Monday by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which dedicated it to Katie Abraham, who was killed in an Illinois drunk driving accident by an illegal alien. “The criminal illegal aliens who came to Chicago and Illinois knowing that Governor Pritzker and his sanctuary policies would protect them will be the target of this ICE operation,” DHS stated on X.

"We'd love to go into Chicago," he said Monday, referring to the operation as distinct from a possible federal law enforcement assault into the city. We're awaiting a phone call. "Over the past number of weeks, approximately 50 people were killed, and hundreds were shot," he said, blasting state and municipal authorities for weekend violence.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker denounced Trump's social media statements as autocratic and condemned his rhetoric. "We have to protect our democracy... from Donald Trump," Johnson asserted.

To apprehend and deport criminal illegal aliens, the Trump administration launched a massive ICE operation in Chicago on Monday. The campaign was named "Operation Midway Blitz" by the Department of Homeland Security in honor of Katie Abraham, a young lady who was killed in Illinois in a hit-and-run by Julio Cucul-Bol, an illegal alien who had previously been deported. DHS contrasted Trump's pledge to "stand with the victims of illegal alien crime" with Gov. JB Pritzker's sanctuary policies, accusing Pritzker of making Illinois a haven for criminals.

The operation is distinct from a possible police surge to combat street violence, which Trump has publicly discussed but is contingent upon a formal request from local authorities. When he spoke about religious liberty Monday, he stated, "We'd love to go into Chicago." “A call from Chicago is what we're waiting for.”

Trump also brought attention to the city's rising crime rate, stating on Truth Social that six individuals were killed over the weekend, increasing the total number of murders in Chicago to over 50 in recent weeks. Governor Pritzker just said he doesn't want assistance from the federal government! WHY? Trump wrote, "What's wrong with this guy and the 5% in polls, Mayor?" "I want to help, not harm, the people of Chicago." The criminals alone will suffer harm!

Trump's muscular policing tactics in Washington, D.C., where he federalized the police department last month and sent out National Guard troops with federal agents to combat violent crime and illegal immigration, are the reason behind the immigration enforcement campaign. Through Operation Legend in 2020, Trump has already poured federal money into key cities, including Chicago.

The Trump administration is making it plain that it will continue its tough assault on illegal immigration as "Operation Midway Blitz" gets underway, confronting sanctuary communities ruled by Democrats and their disregard for federal law.
