GOP Iowa Gov Reynolds Announces End to COVID-19 Emergency Declaration

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds told the press on Thursday (Feb. 3) “We cannot continue to suspend duly enacted laws and treat COVID-19 as a public health emergency indefinitely,” as she announced the end of her state’s COVID-19 emergency declaration and the shut down of vaccination and case count websites. Reynolds, a Republican, also issued the statement After two years, it’s no longer feasible or necessary. The flu and other infectious illnesses are part of our everyday lives, and coronavirus can be managed similarly.”

The governor’s signed final extension of Iowa’s public emergency, first signed in March 2020, will end on the night of Feb. 15, according to the official proclamation document. Upon the end of the emergency declaration, the websites--coronavirus.iowa.gov and vaccinate.iowa.gov--will be decommissioned on Feb.16, according to a Resist the Mainstream article.

Iowa Health Director Kelly Garcia added in a statement referencing the changes, “While our COVID-19 reporting will look different, Iowans should rest assured that the state health department will continue to review and analyze COVID-19 and other public health data daily, just as we always have.”

The end to Iowa’s emergency declarations follows the actions of about half of all U.S. states which have discontinued their public health emergency proclamations, Reynolds’ office said. It looks like we are approaching the end of an era of the politicization of the “plandemic!” What are Democrats going to do without a fear-mongering narrative to continue their reign of tyranny on the American citizens?
