THE SNOWFLAKES ARE STILL UP TO THEIR DIRTY TRICKS
During a town hall meeting between Republican Rep. Mike Coffman and his suburban Denver constituents on Wednesday evening, only a selected amount of tickets were made available (800 precisely) and those who got one of the tickets needed to show photo ID at the gate after which they were issued a wristband and assigned a number. In a move aimed at preventing blocking anybody’s view, no signs bigger than a sheet of paper were allowed.
Ever since Donald Trump was elected into office, Town halls have become a tough and risky proponent for GOP members of congress. Liberal groups and constituents who claim they are displeased with the President's agenda and who have a hard time getting over the election, flood these public forums and demand answers to some tough questions from their representatives. Some of these liberals and constituency members even go as far as chanting and shouting at them.
South Carolina’s representative, Joe Wilson - infamous for yelling “You lie!” at President Barack Obama during a speech to congress 8 years ago was verbally attacked by constituents who ceaselessly chanted “You lie” at him.
John Culberson, representing Texas, restricted noisemakers from attending a March 24 town hall. He demanded presentation of utility bills and other related documents as a proof of membership of the constituency and asked that questions be submitted in advance. In spite of, John Culberson was still shouted down by an angry crowd who were absolutely livid with the push by the GOP to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
On the other hand, Democrats have not had their share of nastiness at town halls yet. They are also taking preventive measures, for instance, Kamala Harris of California has placed a ban on signs at her town hall scheduled to take place in Los Angeles.
